The Power of Data Apprenticeships

3/5/24, 12:23 PM

Businesses are using and producing more data than ever. At Boom Training, we know businesses need to make the most of this data, which is why we have launched the Data Technician (Level 3) and Data Analyst (Level 4) government-funded apprenticeships.

Here are just some of the benefits of getting your team to complete a data apprenticeship:

  1. Enhanced decision making

Equipping your staff with data analysis skills through apprenticeships enables informed business decisions based on accurate data. This includes working with both structured and unstructured data, using tools such as SQL and Python for data integration and analysis.

  1. Better customer insights

Analysing data can provide valuable insights into customer behaviour, preferences and needs. Apprenticeships in data analysis enable your staff to extract and interpret customer data effectively, leading to more targeted marketing strategies and improved customer satisfaction.

  1. Drive business performance

A data apprenticeship can help your staff analyse real-time data, so they can understand the latest trends and drive your business forwards.  The courses also teach apprentices how to use sophisticated visualisation tools such as Power BI or Tableau to create performance dashboards that allow managers and others who aren’t data specialists to make sense of the data and use it for decision making.

  1. Compliance and risk management

With the growing emphasis on data protection and privacy regulations, such as GDPR, having employees with expertise in data management is essential.

Data apprenticeships can help to reduce the risk of non-compliance and potential legal issues.  This includes understanding the importance of data security both in local and cloud-based servers and networks.

  1. Competitive advantage

Investing in data apprenticeships will position you ahead of your competitors. By using data effectively, you can stay ahead of industry trends, predict market shifts and make proactive strategic decisions.

Why businesses use our data apprenticeships

Valuable for various roles (not just data roles!)

At Boom Training, we recently enrolled a Finance/Payroll staff member on the Data Technician course, as they regularly collect data of the salaries of various departments, keep on top of budgets, collate and manipulate data for future projections, create reports and present data to the Board and MDs.

Even though people would ordinarily think a finance course would be the only suitable route, the data course was ideal and perfectly matched their requirements.

Learn new skills

We also enrolled a Surgical Data Entry / Admin employee on the Data Technician apprenticeship, as they were regularly inputting data as part of their admin hybrid role.

By completing the course they learned new techniques and skills that they could put into practice in their everyday role.

Become more efficient

Anyone in a job role that contains 'Data' or 'Analyst' is likely to be suitable for a data apprenticeship. The courses are a great way to become more efficient and quicker when handling data.
